Sahar Atassi is the 2024-2025 Francis D. Murnaghan, Jr. Appellate Advocacy Fellow. She supports the Appellate Advocacy Project by identifying and litigating cases with potential for systemic impact. Seeking to defend and advance civil rights, Sahar represents parties and amici curiae in state and federal appellate courts.
Previously, Sahar clerked for Judge Loren L. AliKhan on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, as well as for Judge M. Hannah Lauck on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Sahar graduated from the George Washington University Law School, where she served as the Articles Editor of The George Washington Law Review, a Dean’s Fellow, Writing Fellow, and teaching assistant. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Michigan. Before attending law school, Sahar worked as an immigration law paralegal.
