More people have access to health insurance and affordable, quality healthcare thanks to the Affordable Care Act and the expansion of Medicaid. But big gaps remain. In fact, people who become eligible for Medicare due to age or disability may lose their eligibility for Medicaid or premium subsidies and suddenly face a slew of costs.
